Derbyshire County Council are proposing to close Hazelwood Home for Older People due to the rising cost of repairs. Over a 12-week consultation period people who would be affected by the closure will get the chance to say what they think about the proposal.
Due to ‘estimation’ for cost of work, Derbyshire County Council are now considering closing the home where there are currently 25 elderly residents. These residents include my 97 year old grandma and family members of friends in Ilkeston. Hazlewood is the only local authority owned care home left in Ilkeston & provides a vital service for the elderly in and surrounding this area. Having local authority owned care homes provides support to those elderly who may not be able to support a private care home bill – just as the NHS does for us.
If you believe that this is a vital service then please add your name to this petition and take a stand.
The IFCSG is now a fully paid up member of Erewash Partnership.
This will allow the Group to access valuable information, investigate grant opportunities, develop relationships with local businesses and organisations, and provide opportunities to work closely with the local authorities.
Please note that our membership has arisen with NO COST TO THE GROUP.
“SAVE FOOTBALL IN ILKESTON. KEEP FOOTBALL AT THE NEW MANOR GROUND”
Ilkeston football followers are in danger of losing their football club which lies in the heart of the community. It is crucial that the local council allows the existing football ground to be used on behalf of local people if a new football club needs to be formed. Without the football ground, hundreds of people will lose the enjoyment of watching their local team.
Maggie Throup has used a speech in Parliament to give her backing to a Bill which will see community radio stations given access to a new small-scale DAB network, which is seen as a cheaper and more reliable way of broadcasting.
Currently residents, particularly those living in Long Eaton, often struggle to receive a good reception for our local community radio station Erewash Sound due to limited band width and low transmission power.
If the Bill becomes law, it is hoped that Erewash Sound could secure one of the new small-scale DAB multiplexes, so that all residents can tune in and enjoy Erewash’s favourite radio station.
Please note that the IFCSG AGM is being held in the clubhouse on the evening of Wednesday May 11th. Apart from the usual format of the AGM, I am (if re-elected) looking to hold discussions with you all at the end of the meeting regarding the direction the Group needs to proceed in the light of the issues surrounding the football club during the last 12 months.
For this reason I would encourage every single member to attend what could be one of the most important meetings in the Group’s history. Non members are also welcome (maybe you’ll be persuaded to join!) – although they are unable to vote in the election process – because all fans’ opinions on the future of our club and what the Group needs to do to ensure its survival are very important.
The AGM will commence at 8PM, so please arrive any time from 7.30pm
The IFCSG are looking for new members to join them for the 2016-17 season.
The Ilkeston Football Club Supporters Group was officially launched on January 6th 2011. This supporters association has been formed to give Ilkeston FC fans a voice, to raise funds for the new club, to allow fans to travel to away games by coach at competitive prices and to raise awareness of Ilkeston FC’s existence within the local community by positively promoting it. It also exists to ensure that Ilkeston FC does not go down the same path as former club Ilkeston Town.
If you would like to know more about a role within the IFCSG, please email the committee using the following email address: email@example.com
